The Great Skate: Two Dudes Roll From Chicago to NYC
These dudes must be board out of their minds.
Two college students are making the 850-mile trek from Chicago to New York on their skateboards, braving endless hills, nasty weather and even nastier local police departments.
Since they left home June 2, Michael Kosciesza and Arthur Swidzinski, both 20, have been scraped, banged up, taunted, and nearly run off small-country roads.
But they also have met a slew of friendly and supportive folk and cobbled together a great deal of footage for what they hope to turn into a documentary called “Shred America.” [NY Post]

BCS Has Cost Collegiate Athletics $4.83 Billion & Counting!
It is very easy to talk to a few network TV executives, media buyers, and corporate marketing honchos and figure out how much college football and collegiate athletic programs will leave on the table this year, over $650 million this year alone, and over the next 10 years, $7.0 Billion+, if the current BCS system stays in place over the revenues of what a 16 team college football playoff would generate.
What is a more interesting question, especially in a time when the vast majority of college athletic programs are losing money (With only 19 of 120 I-A athletic programs showing a net profit) and the cost of everything from fuel to college tuition skyrocketing, is how much money has the BCS already cost athletic programs across the United States?
