“American Pie: Beta House” DVD Review

Bet HouseThe third part of an extremely underrated direct-to-DVD series, American Pie: Beta House brings back most of the original cast (led by John White and Steve Talley), and puts them together once again for a college experience many freshman dread: pledging in a fraternity.

A whole summer has passed since Erik, “black sheep” of the infamous Stifler family (who’s father is played by Christopher McDonald aka: Shooter McGavin), and his friends visited his cousin (and on-campus legend) Dwight at college and experienced a weekend that consisted of crazy parties, battles with a fraternity made up of maniacal little people, and running naked through campus.

Now, Erik and his best friend, Mike “The Cooze” Coozeman, return to campus as incoming freshman and continue having the time of their lives, joining in on Dwight’s crazy shenanigans and legendary parties. When they arrive, Erik already starts to fall for Ashley, a girl on his floor, while Cooze begins to pursue Ashley’s southern roommate Denise - until he hears that she may have a secret “tucked” away under her clothes. The boys are put to the test when they start to pledge for the Beta Delta XI, under none other than Dwight Stifler himself, thus beginning the partying, the pranks and of course the unforeseeable sexual dilemmas that have made the whole series what it is today.

Only one problem stands in the way: the GESK house, whose president has one thing in mind, destroying the Beta house for social dominance, leading to a hilarious prank war that gets so out of hand, that a banned “ancient” tournament, full of hilarious events (including a homage to Deer Hunter that will leave you in tears), must be revived to determine who will reign supreme on campus.
