Another State Tries to Lower Drinking Age
Underage drinking, beloved by many college students, may be moving out of dingy basements and into a new venue: the bar.
A bill authored by Rep. Phyllis Kahn , DFL-Minneapolis, would allow 18- to 20-year-olds to drink in bars and restaurants.
The legislation comes in the wake of numerous college-aged binge drinking deaths in recent months. The reasoning behind the legislation, Kahn said, is to move dangerous binge drinking away from dorm rooms and house parties and into a more monitored environment. [MN Daily]

Student Hit By Car, Charged With Jaywalking
A Penn State student was struck by a vehicle Tuesday night after she ran into the street to catch a bus, one of many pedestrian-vehicle accidents that plague the borough each year.
Fernanda Mattozo (freshman - Business Administration) said she was leaving CVS Pharmacy with some friends when she ran in between two parked cabs to catch a Blue Loop bus across the street.
“Apparently my friend screamed, ‘Fernanda, no,’ but I couldn’t hear anything,” Mattozo said. “I was kind of like a deer in the headlights, literally.” [Collegian]
