“Sex sells” was the basis for the sweetest class trip of all time. Students from Randolph College in Virginia, studying American consumption, recently visited the Chicken Ranch, a legal brothel outside Las Vegas, to help them more closely analyze the class’s focus of “the ideas that consume us.”
But what might seem to some as the beginning to a porno, the 11 girls (and no dudes) who made up the class absorbed the experience as a learning opportunity.
From the article:
“I think I’m going to take away the idea that these women are actually happy at what they’re doing and the cultural idea that these women have been forced to do it isn’t true,” student Alex McKay said. “And these women have other careers and other lives and they’re actually happy here.”
Working Girls may have self-respect like the rest of us, but CNN reports that “ninety-nine” percent of the Chicken Ranch hookers refused to participate, with only two agreeing to meet the class, and give seminars on the oldest profession. Even they wouldn’t give their last names. Hell, if I worked at the Chicken Ranch, I wouldn’t tell CNN my last name either.
