We now know why 26 percent of New Yorkers have the herpes virus.

Despite a campaign to raise awareness for safe sex and new statistics that prove herpes and the AIDS virus are running rampant in NYC, a recent study shows that 40 percent of New Yorkers with multiple sex partners did not use a condom last time they had sex, according to a health department study that polled 10,000 adults. You know, you can still get herpes (or HPV, for that matter) even if you’re using a condom. It’s transmitted through the skin to skin contact — and there’s skin to skin contact even with condom use (condoms don’t cover all your skin).
