1. Wear Clothes that Fit. Ever wonder why guys in Hollywood seem to look better in clothes than you do? It’s not just because the clothes are more expensive - it is because they are tailored to fit their body size. Wear clothes that fit. Do not wear clothes that are overly baggy if you are trying to hide your weight because that is more likely to make you look fat. Pants should come down to the bottom of your shoes; not the bottom of your ankles.
2. Dress It Up. Ditch your vintage tee shirt and ripped jeans and try a button down and dress pants. She is probably tired of seeing you in your Strokes tee anyways. Try a pair of black slacks with an untucked grey button down.
3. Shine Your Shoes. One way to really add some class to your outfit is to shine your shoes. Take your old loafers and throw on a little polish and buff ‘em up. She is likely to notice little details like these.
4. Pocket Square - It’s not just for your Grandpa. Look at guys like Tom Brady (who dates a SUPERMODEL). If you’re wearing a sport coat, throw a silk pocket square to compliment your shirt or tie color.

I think you’re mistaken about the correct length of pants. About two years ago I discovered the value of buying unfinished pants and taking them to my local men’s store to have them finished properly. (This actually had to do with two things (1) I’m a big fan of Bill’s Khakis and the come unfinished and (2) I’m between sizes so having them finished is the best idea.) At any rate, pants like khakis or cords ought to stop just blow the TOP of a typical shoe, not at the sole. Those few inches make a considerable difference in look. Although, I might be a little more traditional than most of you since I choose pleats and cuffs.
