Possible HIV Immunity Vaccine Discovered

Scientists at the University of Pennsylvania believe they have found a way to pass on immunity to HIV/AIDS–a rare genetic anomaly possessed by an extremely lucky few–by altering your genes.

Essentially, HIV infects the body by “pulling itself into” T-cells, which fight off infection, rendering the body unable to protect itself from disease and other viruses, says Wired.com. To do this, HIV latches on to a protein on the cell called CCR5. By altering the genetic make-up of a person’s T-cells and reinserting them into the body, HIV has no way to destroy their immune system. Read More »

Wrap It Up! Study Finds One-Fourth Of NYC Residents Have Herpes

Bad news for resedents in the NYC area as a Department of Health study found that 36 percent of women and 19 percent of men living in the city are infected with the herpes virus.

The study finds that in total, “26 percent of city residents have the virus that causes genital herpes, an incurable sexually-transmitted infection that can cause painful genital sores and can double a person’s risk for HIV.”

So what can you do to combat this problem? Wrap it up, no matter what… every time!

When you bring home a one-night stand from the local bar, or even step barefoot into a dorm shower, you may be putting yourself at great physical risk.

So we spoke to doctors from several universities about sexually transmitted infections, sexual dysfunction, steroids, pregnancies and even pubic-hair removal. It wasn’t pleasant.

I. You gave me what?
Most college-student health centers spend lots of time screening patients for sexually transmitted infections, or STIs. Doctors say the number-one reason students schedule appointments is for Pap tests or pelvic exams. Their results might come as a surprise: You’re definitely carrying something, and that something is called HPV. Dr. Davis Smith, medical director of the student health center at Wesleyan University, says: “For college-aged students moderately sexually active - about two to three partners a year - the likelihood of exposure to an HPV (Human Papil-lomavirus) is 100 percent.” Ouch!

The alarm screams at 7:54 AM, tearing me out of dream in which I was awkwardly going back to my high school prom. I am already not a fan of this day.

I do my best to get up and into the shower without falling asleep and slamming my head against the tile wall. Running downstairs, gulping a few spoonfuls of cereal and grabbing my keys, I make it out the door just in time.

The rain and 45 degree day seem fitting. As does the a**hole who cuts in front of me and then stops short to stare at a dead squirrel in the middle of the road. I’ve forgotten how much I hate driving. Going back to New York will be a blessing in one big, public transportation way.

Snagging a gynecologist appointment at home was a stroke of luck, but as I pull into the familiar parking lot, I can’t help but feel the pre-visit jitters. It’s not that I’m afraid of those stirrups and cold metal speculums, I’m just not happy to see them. Ever. Read More »

Kasikorn Bank recently launched a “condoms for confidence� campaign at around 60 branches in Thailand, hoping free prophylactics will help raise awareness of HIV/AIDS in the “generally conservative� country.

An unidentified bank spokesman explained the thinking behind “condoms for confidenceâ€? was the revival of a government awareness campaign that has “fizzled outâ€?, leaving many Thai teenagers in the dark about sexual awareness. Read More »

Hmmm…where do I begin to explain the premise of 9 Doors?

Players control a semi-animated stick figure - and when I say semi-animated I mean intentionally bootleg for comedic purposes; think “End of the World”. Anyways, there are nine doors. One door leads to yayness and the rest lead to death.

Simply start by choosing doors. Pick a death door and your stick figure will die a hilarious death like getting stabbed by five javelins, getting his head squished by an enormous machine or getting injected with an AIDS needle.

Play 9 Doors tonight when you are hammered and the bootleg simplicity of the whole thing will keep you clicking for a good 20 minutes.

Michael Vick vs. The Food Chain

Yeah, yeah, yeah - dogs are cute and precious, blah, blah, blah. PETA, PETA, PETA - puppy dogs, rainbows and unicorns…

Michael Vick didn’t kill a human; they were f@cking dogs - case closed. There have been countless examples of athletes responsible for deaths - Ray Lewis barely avoided murder charges - let alone drunk driving or worse (let’s not even discuss child support).

Now, it has been a long time since junior high but when last I checked, not only were dogs domesticated animals (that fall much lower on the food chain than humans) but we have killed domesticated animals for much lesser crimes. The ASPCA kills tens of thousands of domesticated animals on a weekly basis. Also, when in the hell did PETA become a lobby group in charge of upholding federal policy?

Don’t get me wrong - Pamela Anderson has great tits, but she needs to shut the f@ck up and just sit there and look pretty. Doesn’t she still have hepatitis or AIDS or some random strand of filth she caught from Kid Rock? Go get therapy bitch, and leave Michael Vick alone. Read More »
