Step Brothers Ain’t So Bad

This movie made me laugh from my chest pubes all the way down to my balls fro. Will Ferrell took a break from a long string of sports movies and is laugh-out-loud funny once again. Don’t expect anything highbrow from this film though, it’s laced with penis jokes and profanity—often paired together.

The story centers around Brennan Huff, played by Ferrell, and Dale Doback, played by John C. Reilly, and their journey from live-at-home 40 year olds to “responsible” adults.

Brennan and Dale are forced together as step brothers after their parent’s marriage, and the first half of the film follows their journey from mortal enemies to best friends, unfortunately that journey also results in their newly married parents getting divorced. The second half of the film is all about Brennan and Dale’s mission to get them back together. Read More »

SAG Nominations Announced

No Country for Old Men

No Country for Old Men is my personal favorite movie of the year. If you haven’t seen it yet, do yourself a favor and watch it tonight. It’s the most quietly-intense movie I’ve seen in ages, thanks in part to the flawless editing, lack of soundtrack, and psycho killer Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem).

Other movies and shows got nominated too, but I’m here to sing the praises of No Country for Old Men. There Will Be Blood should be great, but I’ll have to wait until December 26 to find out for sure.

In any event, here are the SAG nominations for the best films and shows of 2007, picked by a panel of experts that enjoy quirky comedies and thick drama (and in some cases, great movies and shows).

“There Will Be Blood” Official Trailer

The return of Daniel Day Lewis, eternal bad-ass.

P.T. Anderson at the helm of a Western.

Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead scoring the soundtrack.

Yeah, There Will Be Blood is gonna kill.

There Will Be Blood is scheduled for release on December 26.

Jessica Alba (and Ass) Star in “The Eye”

Jessica Alba

The ass-tastic Jessica Alba plays a vision-impaired violinist in The Eye who gets her vision back via a cornea transplant…only for her eyes to deceive her and show horrific instances from the prior eyeball-owner’s life! It’s a remake of a 2002 film made in Hong Kong titled Gin Gwai.

Yeah it sounds kinda lame (like her last flick) but she’s hot, and that’s good for something…right?

COED Movie Trailer: King Corn

Exclusive trailer premiere for King Corn, a documentary where Ian Cheney and Curt Ellis, best friends from college on the east coast, move to the heartland to learn where their food comes from. With the help of friendly neighbors, genetically modified seeds, and powerful herbicides, they plant and grow a bumper crop of America’s most-productive, most-subsidized grain on one acre of Iowa soil. But when they try to follow their pile of corn into the food system, what they find raises troubling questions about how we eat-and how we farm.

COED Movie Trailer: Run, Fatboy, Run

Run, Fatboy, Run centers on a charming but oblivious overweight guy who leaves his fiancee on their wedding day only to discover years later that he really loves her. To win her back, he must finish a marathon while making her realize that her handsome, wealthy fiance is the wrong guy for her.

COED Movie Trailer: December Boys

Based on the classic Michael Noonan novel, December Boys is a story of four orphan teenagers growing up behind the closed doors of a catholic convent in outback Australia during the 1960s. As the boys watch younger kids get adopted by loving families, they begin to realize that as they get older, their turn may never come. When the convent sends the boys to visit the seaside one summer, they finally have something to look forward to.

COED Movie Trailer: Across the Universe

The love story about a British boy and an American girl is set against the backdrop of the social upheaval of the 1960s. Although not about the Beatles, the musical will use their songs to drive the narrative, with the actors singing and dancing to the classic tunes.

New “John Rambo” Trailer - Even Bloodier!

John Rambo

Just when all hope is lost in the realm of R-rated, over-the-top action films, Sylvester Stallone comes through with John Rambo.

Gearing up to be on-par with the earlier trilogy of films the new John Rambo trailer gives us the good stuff - all action, no chaser. This all-new trailer looks like Rambo himself edited his recent trip to Burma as a highlight reel, meaning it’s the best thing you’ve ever seen in your boring-ass life.

COED Review: 3:10 to Yuma… What’s the Big Deal?

3:10 to Yuma

“It’s one of the best westerns and best all-around movies I’ve seen in a long time. That’s largely due to the outstanding performances by the cast, ably led by the alpha male, bad guy, Russell Crowe. His protagonist is Christian Bale who turns in a nuanced performance as the down-on-his luck rancher. The scenes between these two men are riveting and a display of acting at its best. The supporting cast are all wonderful and in particular, Ben Foster, Fonda and Logan Lerman as Bale’s oldest son.”

“The action is virtually non-stop which makes for a compelling, exciting story. But what really drew me in were the stellar performances, particularly that of Crowe. He is the bad guy you actually might end up rooting for. He goes from charming to deadly and back again all in the blink of an eye. He carries the film on his very able shoulders, but Bale gives him a good run for his money in the acting department.”

“This is one movie that any lover of westerns or anyone simply longing for a good movie with good acting will not want to miss. The two hours will go by in the blink of an eye and you’ll be wishing there was more.”
