Tarintino Announces His Next Release

According to Joblo.com, Quentin Tarantino announced at this year’s Canne Film Festival that his next film will be Inglorious Bastards, due to premier at Cannes in 2009. The film, which has been rumored about for over five years, is a war movie, inspired by 1977 Italian film Quel maledetto treno blindato, by director Enzo G. Castellari.

“The next movie I’m doing is my World War II movie,” Tarantino told a French TV host during a television show. “I just finished up the first draft, and if all goes well, I’ll be here, in Canne, in 2009 with Inglorious Bastards.”

Instead of a remake of the Castellari film, Inglorious Bastards will pay homage to a long list of Tarantino film favorites, including The Dirty Dozen and The Great Escape. Here’s to hoping this one comes out better than Grindhouse.
