James Dobson

Over the past seven years of the Bush Administration, I’ve realized that to know what people are lying about, just listen to what they’re accusing others of doing–which is exactly what Christian-right leader and founder of Focus on the Family, James Dobson has done by claiming that Barack Obama is ‘distorting’ the Bible. His comments come in reference to a two-year-old speech Obama gave in June 2006, while speaking to a Christian group.

Four members of Harvard’s “Right to Serve” tour were arrested this morning at a military recruiting station in Portland, Maine on the charge of criminal trespassing.

The arrested members were Samantha G.M. Barnard ’09, Robert J. Ross ’09, Amary K. Wiggin ’09, and Jacob P. Reitan, a Harvard Divinity School student who first conceived of the tour.

Twenty Harvard students have been traveling since Saturday on a week-long trip up and down the east coast to protest the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy barring openly homosexual or bisexual recruits from enlisting in the armed services.  [Harvard Crimson]

Miami Lands #1 Seed For NCAA Baseball Championship

After hearing the good news that they would be hosting the Coral Gables Regional as the No. 1 national seed of 64 teams for the 2008 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship, Miami players and coaches watching the selection show in the clubhouse were thrown an unexpected curveball.

No. 2 seed Missouri (38-19), No. 3 Mississippi (37-24) and No. 4 Bethune-Cookman (36-20) are set to come to town this weekend in a surprise bracket that left some wondering how the top seed didn’t get matched up with the likes of Mt. St. Mary’s (21-32) or Texas Southern (16-32) in its regional instead of lower No. 1 seeds such as North Carolina or LSU.

Miami will take on Bethune-Cookman in the second game Friday at 4 p.m., following the match-up between Missouri and Mississippi. All games will air on ESPNU, with games at both 12 and 4 p.m. through Sunday, and the final game on Monday if necessary. [The Miami Hurricane]

Four More Men Admitting to Gay Encounters with Larry Craig Come Forward

Larry Craig

Just when you thought the wide-stance scandal surrounding Sen. Larry Craig (R-Idaho) started to fade away, four new gay allegations pop up.

CBS news (via The Politico) reports that four men have admitted to gay encounters with the Idaho Senator. Some of these allegations stem back to the late 80s.

The Idaho Statesman, the original reporter of Larry Craig’s bathroom-stall scandal, are also the source of these new findings. Before Craig’s sexual preference became a global hot topic the newspaper had investigated rumors of his homosexual tendencies for several months; they unveiled the remaining information accumulated yesterday.

One man who stepped forward goes by the name of Mike Jones. Who is Mike Jones?

The Mike Jones in this case is not the self-promoting Houston rapper but a former prostitute who admitted to having sex with Reverend Ted Haggard in 2005. According to Jones, Craig paid for sex with him in either late 2004 or early 2005.

In typical Larry Craig fashion, he has denied all allegations.

Yes! Another sex scandal in Washington!

First it was Hillary Clinton scissoring her right-hand girl; now it’s Mississippi Senator Trent Lott conveniently resigning while a sex scandal about him is being unearthed.

Trent Lott is being accused by multiple “reputable” sources of having sexual relations with an escort - a male escort. These sources include my favorite wheelchair-bound horndog/Hustler Magazine founder Larry Flint and Big Head DC. Read more

Not Your Average Bomb: The Gay Bomb

I’ll be the first to admit that I did some messed up shit to my frenemies during my younger years. One time in middle school, my friends and I poured Snapple and mashed strawberries in a girl’s backpack because we were fighting for absolutely no reason.

Seeing as our military isn’t in middle school (though they are in a similar predicament: fighting for absolutely no reason), I’d expect a little more tact from them. But apparently the U.S. military has come down with the mean girls-syndrome that I suffered circa the strawberry incident.

No, they didn’t mash strawberries in the backpacks of Iraqi extremists. But they did do some very Regina George-esque plotting to create a gay bomb to use against enemy soldiers. A gay bomb. Seriously.

A watchdog organization that tracks military spending exposed the U.S. military’s plan to build a bomb that could turn opposing soldiers gay—consequently shifting their focus from fighting to sex, CBS reported.

The watchdog group found that “the Ohio Air Force lab proposed that a bomb be developed that contained a chemical that would cause enemy soldiers to become gay, and to have their units break down because all their soldiers became irresistibly attractive to one another.â€? Read more
