Sen. Ted Kennedy’s ‘Risky’ Brain Surgery A Success

According to MSNBC.com, Sen. Edward (Ted) Kennedy was released out of surgery at Duke University Medical Center a few hours ago after a serious brain operation. Sen. Kennedy was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor two weeks ago. At the time, the condition was originially deemed “inoperable.”

The operation took roughly 3.5 hours, down from the six hour estimate originally determined by the operating doctor. After recovery from the surgery, which is expected to take another week, Kennedy will return to Massachusetts General hospital, where he will begin intensive radiation and chemotherapy treatment, in an attempt to eradicate the cancerous cells.
